The NewsCarnival Corp subsidy, Holland America, readies its latest ship, ms Eurodam, for a July debut. Behind the NewsThe first of Holland America's new Signature Class, the Italian-built ms Eurodam will launch on July 5th. Its maiden voyage will begin in Copenhagen and bounce about Scandinavia before heading to the British Isles. Traipsing about international waters for the rest of its introductory year, it will eventually embark on transatlantic sojourns before ultimately undertaking Caribbean meanders. Eurodam will get around.
At 936 feet long and spanning eleven passenger decks, the fledging ship can accommodate up to 2 104 guests. Capable of reaching a maximum speed of 23.9 knots and sporting a nifty state of the art navigation centre, it's fleet enough to outrun storms and prescient enough to avoid them altogether. Like any ship worth its sea salt (sorry, I know…), Eurodam has an army of restaurants, bars, amenities, and hangouts. Dining options range from relaxed to haute, with lounges, grills, bistros, and everything in between. Duck into the interactive kitchen to pick up culinary tips; drop by the spa for a rubdown - no doubt enhanced by the subtle brush of waves against the bow; experience the Microsoft-branded Digital Workshop to learn tech secrets from experts (it will help with your cruise pics); deposit the adolescents at the teenage-friendly Loft; head to Explorations Café for a relaxing cappuccino; and book a private poolside cabana for a Dylan McKay/Kelly Taylor-style tryst. As cruising aficionados know, the HA line, sophisticated and catering to aesthetes, represents seaward luxury. The Netherlands' Queen Beatrix will formerly introduce the ship on July 1st, and nothing portends refinement like a royal unveiling. Staterooms are broad in scope, from modern and well-appointed Inside Rooms to massive Penthouse Veranda Suites. Technologically savvy, all rooms come well-equipped for the contempo cruiser. Eurodam, the 14th ship in Holland America's high-end fleet, will be joined by a sister ship in 2010. Comments
