Spicing up a black and white colour palette with dashes of flare - including intimate fireplace seating, heated oak floors, and striking modern art - the aesthetic is powerful but welcoming. Ingibjörg S. Pálmadóttir's venture has utilized a re-imagined office building to create a boutique unrivaled in the 101 - thus its name is fitting. Amenities include geothermal pools, a full fitness centre, and in-room massage. Furthermore, its location is killer. Centrally situated, nearby attractions abound, from the adjacent opera house to a number of bars and restaurants. If the winter makes you wander-timid, the in-house dining and drinking options are covered in style, thanks to the popular and cool Restaurant 101 and Lounge Bar 101 (this hotel takes the to-the-point hip-ness seriously). The hotel will arrange a number of out-trips and sojourns, no matter the season, if you feel the need to traipse about. Very close to a 4 star performance. The shuttle was there within 4 minutes of my arriving, which was great considering it was 102 outside. The driver was swift, amiable, and professional, and offered the passengers an iced down bottled water upon getting in.
