If you enjoy the stylish threads sewn by Steinunn Sigurd you absolutely have to travel to Reykjavik just to visit this store. It’s a great country and everything, but Sigurd fans will consider this place to be their own personal nirvana. Her feminine but edgy knitwear collection (that’s right, edgy knitwear exists. This ain’t your grandma’s knitwear) is heavily influenced by Iceland’s dramatic landscape. I know what you’re thinking: how could a piece of handcrafted clothing possibly be influenced by a landscape. Well, stick this in your pipe and smoke it: most of her design work tends to be minimal with a very dark and simple colour palate. While the pieces are graphically simple, Steinunn’s clothes can appear quite dramatic when wrapped around the body of a hot young thang. Fashionistas visiting Iceland simply can’t miss this place. The store is responsible for 90% of the tourism in the country (ok…that’s not true, but spread the word and let’s see if we can make it happen). -NE
